Project Update February 2026

Craig-y-Don Croquet Club has been awarded a grant for £85,000 from the Community Fund of the National Lottery. This together with the grant from

Gwynt y Mor and other smaller grant funder's means that we now have the funding for a new Community Pavilion.

We have instructed the Architect to complete the design, and we will then be going out to tender, expecting the build to take place in this year's playing season.

The existing  clubhouse will be contained within the construction site which means we will have some unavoidable disruption this season. To simplify matters, we have taken the decision to withdraw from the Federation Golf leagues this season and delay matches in the Snowdonia Club competition. The lawn pattern will be simplified back to the four-oblong layout of previous years, offering four short lawns; two long lawns or one long with two short, which although not to regulation ratio will be fine for one season.

Mallets and hoop/ball trolleys will have to be stored in Garden boxes away from the building site and there will be no electricity available once the build commences so drinks will need to be brought in flasks. Similarly, there will be no shelter available for playing in inclement weather except for our club day competitions, which will continue, with a room booked in the Community Centre each day.

We hope to be opening The Pavilion before the end of our playing season allowing next winter's board and card gamers the ability to grow their membership in warm and comfortable surroundings!
